1. The judges' decision is final.


2. No member shall behave in an offensive or abusive or unpleasant manner to any person at any show.


3. Any complaint or objection must be made in writing to a committee member, within 30 minutes of the end of a class, accompanied by a deposit of ten pounds (cheques payable to Morecambe Bay Riding Club) which will be refunded in full if the objection is upheld.


4. Competitors take part entirely at their own risk. Riders must wear correctly fitted headgear to PAS015/EN1384, whilst mounted anywhere on the show ground. A rider whose hat comes off will be eliminated. A rider, whose strap comes undone whilst competing, must on penalty of elimination replace it or fasten it before continuing. They may stop without penalty to fasten the strap.


5. Competitors must be correctly dressed when competing, i.e. hat, jacket, collar & tie/stock, jodhpurs and riding boots.


6. Stallions and colts may not be ridden or led by juniors who have not attained their 14th birthday before 1st January 2010. They may NOT be entered in the Young Handler, Lead Rein, First Ridden, M & M LR. or FR or any Show Pony Class. Stallions will only be allowed on the show ground by prior arrangement with the committee.


7. Entry fees will be taken on the day and cannot be refunded, except in genuine cases of injury to the rider, handler or horse.


8. Spurs or whips are NOT permitted in the handy pony/horse class or gymkhana games. Whips are not to exceed 75cms (30ins). Dressage/Schooling whips are not permitted in any classes except Dressage.


9. Novice Horse/Pony Classes - not to have won these classes 3 or more times in previous season. If wins class in 2010 season, is still eligible to compete in these classes for remainder of season


10. Members must present their horse/pony in the ring to obtain entry/attendance points.


11. All breaches of club rules, matters of discipline and objections shall be referred to the MBRC committee (at least three committee members). Their decision shall be binding, final and notified direct to the person(s) concerned.


12. No horse/pony less than four years of age shall be allowed in ridden classes and any suspected of illness will not be allowed onto the show ground. The age of the pony shall be calculated from the 1st January in the year of its birth. Also, cruelty to any horse/pony or excessive use of the whip immediately disqualifies entry.


13. Committee members reserve the right to refuse entries considered to be unsuitable for any class, or to expel from the show ground, any person or horse/pony behaving in a manner likely to adversely affect the safety or enjoyment of others.


14. Cantering is not allowed - except in the rings or working in area. Anyone seen cantering outside these areas will be reported to the stewards and/or committee and may be sent off the field, forfeiting any entry fees.


15. Measurement of horses/ponies may be taken at any time at the judges discretion or any three committee members.


16. It is the responsibility of all horse/pony owners to ensure that their animals are fully vaccinated against equine flu.


17. No horse/pony can be entered more than once for any one class, although one rider may enter more than one different horse/pony (except in clear round jumping).


18. Points will be awarded to paid up members of MBRC and will be cumulative in respect of the same horse/pony and rider. Members are only eligible for points from the date on which the current year's membership is paid.
Points are awarded to a combination of same rider/horse. Members must not change the name of the horse/pony during the season, or points will not be accumulated. In-hand entries may have a different handler but the handler MUST be a current member for the horse to be awarded points.

19. Members must have competed in at least 3 shows in respective classes to be eligible for championship points in that class.

20.To be eligible for entry to the "Championship Show" you must be a member who has competed the class in at least 2 out of 3 shows prior to the championship in the same season.


21. 1st = 7points, 2nd = 6points, 3rd = 5points, 4th = 4points, 5th = 3points, 6th = 2points.


22. One attendance point will be awarded to each competing member in the class who does not get placed.

23. Rosettes will be awarded to the first six placed in each class.


24. All equitation classes should be ridden in a snaffle bridle.


25. The person named in the entry sheet must take the horse/pony into the ring. Any amendment must be advised to the judge or entries secretary before entering the ring.

26.  In becoming a member of Morecambe Bay Riding Club you give permission for us to email you (if supplying an email address on your membership form) club news and information relevant to the club,and for photos to be used on the club website.


27. Late entries will be taken at the judges or committee members' discretion.


28. No fires, barbecues or naked flames are allowed on the show ground.


29. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.


30. The committee reserves the right to split or combine classes dependent upon numbers of entries.


31. In all classes subject to an age limit, age is counted as at 1st January 2010. e.g. if a rider is 7yrs on 1 January 2010, they will remain as 7 for remainder of season, irrespective of their actual birth date.


32. Payment of entry fees indicates the acceptance of all above MBRC rules.


Health and Safety
We would ask all competitors and spectators to conduct themselves in a way not to cause any incidents. By their very nature, horses can be easily startled and we would ask you to bear this is mind. [For example, having a limited number in the working in ring should there be young children or young horses present.]
