North West Show Jumping Championships.

A big thank you to those members who represented M.B.R.C at the championships which was held at Brookhouse Equestrian Centre, Comberback, Cheshire. This was the first time we have entered these championships and the feedback was positive regarding organisation and correspondence, though a little disappointing that there was no age categories for our younger members. This meant that 9 year olds were competing against older children on larger ponies. It is worth bearing in mind that M.B.R.C is one of only a few riding clubs that does jumping classes in varying age groups. The classes were very large with 40 or more in each class and taking over two hours to complete, but the show was obviously well organised to get through that many competitors. We think it was an excellent achievenent for Molly Smith, age 9, who came 10th in her class, jumping against older children on bigger ponies, especially when she had a nasty fall the week before whilst jumping at Valiants. Well done Molly. Congratulations to Victoria Hepworth on Paddy, who was placed in all 4 jumping finals and bringing home 2 trophies. She got a very credible 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th placings which, considering the size of the classes, was a great achievement. Well done Vic. Florence Greenwood on Parkvale Blackbird came 2nd in the Puffa 1.9 final and 5th in the 2.3 Gallop final. Excellent result Florence.

If you are receiving this letter through the post and have given given us your email address please can you resend a blank email to: terry_and_angela@btinternet.com as we have been unable to send via email, maybe due to spelling or change of address since becoming a member. It reduces our costs if we can contact you by email. It is also less time consuming with so many members. Thanks.

If you would like any more information on the above or future events please contact Joanne or visit the website. Telephone Jo on 01524 853514.

Summer 2008

Membership numbers for 2008 are topping 160 which is great news, and shows support for the club. There are many classes to suit all abilities, with an emphasis on fun.

Postal entries for the Dressage to Joanne please. We will also accommodate entries on the day to boost numbers and hopefully see the Dressage continue next year. Many thanks to Leslie Owen for her kind donation towards the running of the dressage ring. HAVE A GO!!

This Sunday the Show Jumping ring will be holding a qualifier for the North West Show Jumping Championships to be held at Brookhouse Equestrian Centre, Comberbach, Cheshire.

Ponies Saturday 23rd August.

Horses Sunday 24th August.

Details from www.bridgewaterridingclub.com

If club members who attended the UK Premier Showing at Widnes would like to contact the club with results and pictures we would love to put them on the website.

Any news that you would like to share, feel free to email a committee member.

We have some Lost Property Items which can be found in the tent this Sunday.

Once again, please take your litter home with you - Many Thanks. Please observe Parking Restrictions which are followed by the majority and who are thoughtful and safety conscious. We recently received an email regarding unattended ponies being tied to trailers and left for long periods of time which is a Health and Safety issue.

We would also welcome your views regarding the possibility of adding a second show jumping ring for clear round and Junior Jumping classes. Also we have had enquiries regarding riding for the disabled and welcome ideas from anyone with experience in introducing these classes, and would we have many riders taking up the challenge?

Lets hope the Weather is good to us this weekend and a good time is had by all.
